The mechanical round nose grabs are specially designed for heavy-duty dredging and excavation in hard soils mixed with rocks. The shells and knives are manufactured from high-strength S355J2G3 steel and wear-resistant Hardox 450, equipped with replaceable wearing strips to maximize service life. The frame is also constructed from S355J2G3 and reinforced with Dillimax 690 for additional strength, while the shafts are made of surface-hardened 42CrMo4 for durability under extreme loads.
All pivot points are equipped with heavy-duty, sealed bearings to prevent the ingress of dirt and ensure long-term reliability. Bronze bearing shells and double-row needle bearings in the sheaves further enhance operational smoothness. The lever arms are reinforced to prevent bending during tough operations, and the grab is fitted with seven interchangeable ESCO 44D tooth points for efficient penetration.
Inside, the shells have a smooth surface without abrupt transitions, which reduces resistance when digging into the seabed and facilitates the unloading of sticky materials such as clay. This combination of robust materials, advanced design, and reinforced components makes the grab exceptionally reliable for the most demanding dredging and digging applications.
